Fundraising Officer

£28,672 - £32,234 pro-rata

Full Time, Permanent

Based at: Bristol

Ref: VAC001878

A great opportunity has arisen for a Fundraising Officer to join the Development Team in Bristol City Council’s Culture & Creative Industries service.

Bristol Culture & Creative Industries (BC&CI), part of Bristol City Council, is focused on cultural development and growth across the city. BC&CI also manages Bristol Museums (Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, M Shed, The Red Lodge Museum, The Georgian House Museum, Blaise Museum & Bristol Archives), Bristol Film Office, the Bottle Yard Studios and the Create Centre.

You will be responsible for fundraising projects across BC&CI, raising funds through all appropriate mediums including but not limited to; trusts and foundations, statutory sources, events, corporate, and individuals/legacy.

Your role will support the Development Managers (job share) to implement our new fundraising strategy. You will have responsibility for initiating and managing your own fundraising projects and campaigns. You will also work closely with colleagues across the service as well as the Board of Trustees of our charity, Bristol Museums Development Trust to ensure that our priority projects are adequately resourced.

In the first six months you will be actively involved in researching key funding streams and developing relationships with identified funders, supporting fundraising campaigns focussed around our exciting exhibition plans as well as working closely with our marketing and other internal teams on a comprehensive communications plan to raise the awareness of how donations support Bristol Museums.

You will be excellent at engaging with funders, stakeholders, local businesses and the public and will be confident communicating verbally and in written media. You will have experience of working within a fundraising, marketing or audience development environment in a paid or voluntary capacity. A working knowledge of trust and foundations supporting the cultural sector is desirable but not essential. Interpersonal skills are paramount as we need an individual who will be able to work confidently across the staff team and with a range of stakeholders and the public to achieve the best results.

You will require strong project management skills and demonstrable experience in working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will need to be able to write persuasively in order to produce editorial and other content targeted at visitors, supporters and prospective donors for a variety of media such as printed materials, the Bristol Culture website, social media and grant applications.

The role will mostly be based at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, though there is flexibility to work across other sites as well as from home. Working as a part of a small and friendly team this is an exciting opportunity to join a creative and dynamic service delivering our city’s cultural agenda.

This role will require occasional evening and weekend work.

This role is a permanent, full-time post which can be considered for job share.
