Cardiff University seeks two ambitious and talented fundraisers for the positions of Development Manager (Major Gifts).

Cardiff University is an ambitious, innovative University, located in a beautiful and thriving Capital City.  One of the world’s top 150 universities, its research was ranked 5th amongst UK universities in the most recent Research Excellence Framework for quality, and 2nd for impact.

In recent years, Cardiff University has embarked on an exciting step-change in its advancement programme, with significant new investment in its fundraising and supporter relations programmes.

The University is now looking to fill two roles at Development Manager (Major Gifts) level.  Both positions will seek to secure major gifts for identified priority projects for the University, one role to include a focus on international fundraising.  Reporting to the Head of Major Gifts, the post holders will join as senior members of the high-performing fundraising team, raising gifts of four, five and six-figures from individuals, charitable trusts and foundations, and corporates.  The roles have scope to prospectively include international fundraising and associated overseas travel.

The successful candidates will have substantial experience of asking for financial commitments in an external facing and result-driven environment.  They will be able to demonstrate professional knowledge within the Major Giving and wider fundraising sphere and be capable of giving advice and guidance to internal (e.g. academic leads) and external stakeholders (e.g. prospective and current donors).  They will be able to evidence their ability to establish and develop quality relationships with stakeholders and possess strong communication and negotiation skills.

For an informal conversation prior to applying for these roles, please email Caroline Semmens, Head of Major Gifts.

Please note, due to the changing situation with COVID-19, interviews will be held virtually on Monday 13th December 2021.

These posts are full-time and permanent and are available immediately.

Closing date: Thursday, 2 December 2021.

This post has previously been advertised to employees of Cardiff University only.  We now invite external applications.

Cardiff University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity and to creating an inclusive working environment. We believe this can be achieved through attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse range of staff from many different backgrounds who have the ambition to create a University which seeks to fulfil our social, cultural and economic obligation to Cardiff, Wales, and the world.  In supporting our employees to achieve a balance between their work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.
