Centre for London is a charity focused on London’s critical challenges. This work is only possible through the fundraising work of our development team.

We identify things that aren’t working, research ways to improve them, and then speak with decision makers to persuade them to make the changes necessary to make London better. This could be relating to where people live, how we move around the city, the work we do and where we do it, and the way London connects with other areas of the UK.

Over the last decade, the Centre established a record of producing high quality and influential research and events and its reputation and influence has grown.

Your work will focus on building relationships with the people and organisations who currently fund the work we do and helping find more funders to invest in our vision for London. These might be wealthy individuals (major donors/high net worth individuals), corporates, local authorities or local government departments. We also work with charitable trusts and foundations to encourage them to give us grants.  We are currently primarily funded on a project-by-project basis, though core funding and individual giving is growing. Exploring new income streams is a priority in our new strategy.

We think this role would best suit someone ready to take their next step in their career, learn quickly, think creatively and communicate compellingly. You may already have experience in fundraising, or you might have other transferable experience.

We are looking for someone who is able to perform (or able to learn) key fundraising activities and who has relevant experience in managing relationships and who is looking for a new challenge.

At Centre for London, we pride ourselves on our strong culture of collaboration. As such, you will work closely with the research, events and communications teams to ensure continued fundraising success. We don’t ask that you are an expert in London policy issues – though some understanding of our policy focus areas would be helpful. We are a team who is very committed to the work we do to improve London.

We celebrate London’s rich and diverse culture, and we want our team to reflect the city we serve. We especially welcome applications from people from minority ethnic and/or less advantaged backgrounds.

We also work hard to help our team progress in their careers and provide support for relevant training.

This ideally is a full-time role, however we would be open to applications from people who would like to work part-time.
