Since 1989 Ethiopiaid has worked in partnership with locally led NGO’s in Ethiopia to deliver positive change for vulnerable and marginalised groups and communities. Ethiopiaid is a small charity that makes a big impact in Ethiopia.

An internal secondment means we are now looking for an experienced fundraiser to join our small friendly team for 1 year.  If you have an eye for detail, fantastic writing skills, an enthusiasm for international development and demonstrable trust fundraising experience then this could be the role for you.

Working closely with the Senior Partnerships Manager you will manage a small portfolio of Trusts & Foundations, conduct prospect research to find new donors, and support the delivery of all Partnership objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify new charitable trusts and foundations (private and corporate)   
  • Prepare quality written proposals to achieve fundraising targets   
  • Manage the grant cycle for existing Trust donors giving £5,000-£25,000 (grant reporting, new applications, touchpoints and communication preferences)   
  • Cultivating relationships with Trustees and Administrators where appropriate   
  • Keep up to date on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for Trusts 
  • Ensure accurate record keeping of all canvassed donors and prospects, ensuring compliance with GDPR and donor’s communication preferences.   
  • Working with the wider team to maintain a ‘clean’ and comprehensive database   
  • Ensure Gift Aid declarations for Major Donors/Major Donor Prospects are current and compliant. 
  • Delivering excellent donor care at all times   
  • Ensure accurate and timely communications with donors, including bespoke correspondence and mailings  
  • Support in-house mailings of bi-annual newsletters and matched/emergency appeal to Trusts & Major Donors (approx. 3 x per year)  
  • Support on Collective Philanthropy event planning 
  • Support on GDPR and Gift Aid Compliance for Partnerships Team donors 

Essential requirements:

  • At least 1 years+ fundraising experience in Trusts fundraising, having written successful 4-5 figure applications.  Or transferable and relevant bid writing skills
  • Competency in Raisers Edge database or a similar CRM platform
  • Donor stewardship experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good emotional intelligence
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office packages
  • Energetic with a sense of fun
  • Flexible, hybrid working in our Bath office; with remotely based candidates considered.

Desirable requirements:

  • 2 years + fundraising experience in Trusts fundraising, having written successful 4-5 figure applications
  • High-level writing skills (grammar, spelling, understanding of what makes a successful grant application)
  • Experience of, or an interest in, International Development
