The Fundraising Manager is responsible for generating income from Trusts, Foundations, Lottery and Statutory sources as well as community fundraising. Working as part of a small team you will lead on building key relationships with existing funders and stakeholders. In addition, you will lead on approaches to new funding sources including the corporate sector to ensure we create innovative ways to sustain and grow our brand and organisation.

Our remarkable growth - from a visionary seed project in 2008 to a well-funded and respected catalyst of change with government and business today – shows an increasing appetite for cultural change driven by a positive message and a passion for collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To lead the completion and submission of applications to Trusts, Lottery and Statutory Fundraising, using your creativity and attention to detail.

  • Play a key role, as a manager, in developing and delivering the fundraising strategy and reporting on the progress made. 

  • Currently we require £150,000 for year one.

  • Identify, develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the above areas.

  • Develop new relationships whilst also engaging with existing funders with a view to maximising income. 

  • Set, manage, evaluate and report on annual Organisation Operating Budget, and liaise with bookkeeper to monitor monthly budget versus actuals. 

  • Set, manage, evaluate and report on annual income budget for your fundraising activity which will contribute to the overall strategic outcomes of the organisation.

  • Continually identify and follow up opportunities to raise income and awareness which have the highest chance of success.

  • Support the Director and Board to develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures in line with legislative and regulatory requirements; and deliver agreed best practice in all the fundraising activities.

  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate and current information on our fundraising database in line with GDPR.

  • Identify and submit applications for awards that will raise the profile of Fathers Network Scotland and make the most of branding opportunities.

  • Oversee the reporting, monitoring and evaluation systems and help support the wider team to effectively use our database to record attendance that we use for funding reports.

  • Work with the Director to ensure that we regularly evaluate our services and income streams to ensure we have feedback for our funding reports.

  • To ensure the appropriate information is gathered on funded projects and provide accurate and timely reports and assisting documentation to funders and the Board.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Essential:

  • Qualified to degree level or with equivalent relevant professional experience eg Chartered Institute of Fundraising membership.

  • Experience of successful fundraising from major funders and influencers including Trusts, Lottery and Statutory sources.

  • An understanding of and involvement in delivering organisational funding strategy.

  • A proven track record of achieving targets of over £100k a year and evidence of how you personally have grown the fundraising.

  • Experience of setting and managing budgets in particular reporting on performance to colleagues.

  • Ability to develop relationships at all levels and evidence of high standards of supporter stewardship.

  • Excellent written communication skills to write funding bids without support. 

  • Behaviours which fit with the values of Fathers Network Scotland. 

  • Fully competent in MS Office, & Excel.

  • Excellent organisational skills and administrative abilities.

  • Proficient in working from own initiative, as well as in a team.

  • Ability to develop creative approaches and solutions to problems and situations.

  • An ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, to accommodate the needs of the role.

Desirable:

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in this field. 

  • Demonstrable ability to build and sustain networks with key influencers and funders.

  • Sound understanding of the issues affecting Dads, children and families. 

  • Full clean driving license. 

  • Membership of The Institute of Fundraising. 

  • Knowledge of fundraising legislation.

  • Working knowledge of fundraising databases.

Type of role: 

  • Part time 

  • 10 hours per week initially for 6 months with view to increasing to 21 hours per week subject to funding

  • Remote working (Scotland-based)

  • Initial 6 month contract, with view to extend based on performance and funding

  • Salary £28,000 - £32,000 FTE
