About Leonard Cheshire

As a global charity and one of the largest voluntary sector providers of services to disabled people, we believe disabled people should have the freedom to live their lives the way they choose – with the opportunity and support to live independently, to contribute economically and to participate fully in society.  With 5,000 staff and 9,000 volunteers, Leonard Cheshire supports nearly 70,000 people in the UK and around the world.  Last year we supported over 600 disabled people through our social care and community programmes in Northern Ireland.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Fund Raiser to join us. This is an exciting role for the organisation in the Republic of Ireland and the successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, and developing new Fund Raising across the European landscape whilst working with major international development organisations in Ireland and in Europe. The key aspect of the role will be to interact and develop relationships with the key stakeholders that either fund or operate projects internationally with people with disabilities. These organisations may be in the public, private and philanthropic sector.

No day in Leonard Cheshire is ever the same and there is always a new challenge. A pivotal part of the role is to develop and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders as well as key external contacts who advocate with people with disabilities. The main objective is always to ensure people with disabilities are at the forefront of all we do, and we provide the highest level of support to facilitate their aspiration to live, learn and work as independently as they choose.

About you

You will be working with a global team and the constantly changing dynamics and new challenges ensure that there is always something new and compelling to get excited about. Fund raising is a tough role in the current environment and requires resilience and structure. The greatest reward is seeing the fruition of a multi-team project come to life and affect great change in the lives of the people that Leonard Cheshire supports.

One of the greater challenges will be working across a broad stakeholder base and seeking to develop meaningful contact points in developing the relationships and ensuring that funding and projects can be determined for the purposes of the organisation. There is an overarching strategy, but it will be important to understand the intricacies of each stakeholder and their specific needs and nuances.

If you are committed to improving choice and opportunity of people with disabilities this is the organisation to come to. You will be involved on the front line of the organisation right from the beginning so that offers a unique opportunity to play an integral role in the success story from the beginning.

What we offer

  • Fair and competitive pay rates
  • A generous employer contribution to a company pension scheme with additional life cover

Leonard Cheshire welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We actively encourage applications from people with a disability, supporting where possible, your requirements for reasonable adjustments.

Shortlisting for this role may take place as applications are received. We therefore reserve the right to close this vacancy once suitable candidates have been appointed.
