Directorate of Development and Alumni Engagement

Post title: Prospect Research Officer Post ref:  QMUL25096

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Prospect Research Officer to join our Directorate of Development and Alumni Engagement (DDAE) and have a direct impact on fundraising activity. This is a critical role that empowers our major gift fundraisers, senior academics and leaders across the University to successfully fundraise for student support, life-changing research and the best possible environments within which talented people can excel and great things can happen.

About the Role

The post holder will provide prospect research to facilitate the cultivation of individuals (alumni and non-alumni), trusts, foundations and corporations in order to secure philanthropic gifts towards the work of the university. The Prospect Research Officer will provide due diligence on prospective donors and, in collaboration with colleagues, evolve a reporting system to track prospects. The post holder will also source notable alumni for the purposes of strategic connections.

About You

Substantial experience of conducting research through retrieving, collating and analysing information from a wide range of sources and presenting the findings to a high standard in a readable, accessible format.

About the Directorate of Development and Alumni Engagement (DDAE)

DDAE seeks to connect with former students (alumni) of Queen Mary and its founding institutions and other potential supporters to identify and develop opportunities for increasing private gift income and other forms of giving, such as alumni volunteering, in support of the strategic goals of the University.

We aim to do this by providing interesting, thought-provoking and compelling communications, events and opportunities for involvement, which attract alumni and donors to partner with the University in pursuit of shared interests.

About Queen Mary

At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.

Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.

We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.

Benefits

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus.

The post is currently based at the Mile End Campus in London, but will be moving to Stepney Green in the Autumn of this year. In the first instance, due to the pandemic, a blend of home and office working will be in place. The role is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment, with an expected start date of 28 June 2021. The starting salary will be Grade 4 in the range of £34,220 - £40,194 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly.

The closing date for applications is 27 June 2021

Interviews are expected to be held the week of 01 July 2021 or shortly thereafter.
